Eroding Wall Substance Study

 Harnessing SUBSTANCE Desginer to improve Archaeological Visualisations of Hadrian’s Wall

 
 

For this project I created a procedural texture set of Hadrian’s Wall to firstly illustrate the benefits of using procedural texturing techniques in Historical Visualization, and to secondly give myself an opportunity to create some custom material splitting nodes for Substance Designer. 

The end result of this process was a material that could switch dynamically between two different variations of Hadrian's Wall at any time, and could ever display both materials on the same texture plate. 

The end result used a system in which two materials were both driven by the same alpha during the creation process, and were then combined together through a custom composite node which contained all of the user controls.
